Wuff —- Wuff!!
If you use OSx as your dev box, SSH into linux servers and then use the screen command the above phrase should look familiar to you. For whatever reason when ever I use screen on a linux box coming from my OSx box the backspace button does not send the correct signal and so I am always greeted with screen’s visual bell of “Wuff — Wuff!!” on the lower part of my shell. I finally looked into it and found a solution. You simply need to place this in your .bashrc/.bash_profile on each of your servers and you will no longer be barked at when trying to use the backspace key:
alias screen='TERM=screen screen'
